AFAG can’t fight corruption with lawlessness – Mornah

The General Secretary of the People’s National Convention (PNC) has condemned the Alliance for Accountable Governance (AFAG) for not going by the laid down rules of the Ghana Police Service.

AFAG on Wednesday took to the streets demonstrating against the ‘poor governance’ of the Mahama-led administration.

Hundreds of people joined in the protest which was dubbed “Aagbe Wor” demo, to wit “they are killing us”. According to them, government is ‘recklessly moving the nation in a wrong direction’ as corruption increases and the economy becomes gloomier by the day.

During the demonstration however, some of the protestors decided not to follow the agreed routes of the Police.

Even though the executives of AFAG have explained and apologised for the action of the group, Bernard Mornah suggested that they (AFAG) should have informed the demonstrators of the approved routes since the Police Service made that known before the protest started.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Radio Gold’s Alhaji and Alhaji, Bernard Mornah asked if a group can claim to be fighting corruption and at the same time engaged in such ‘lawlessness’.

“As much as I agree with demonstrations, there is the need to go by the laid down principles of the Police. You can’t fight corruption with lawlessness. That is not the way to fight corruption,” he said.
