Accident on Accra-Kumasi highway causes heavy traffic

There was heavy vehicular traffic along the Nsawam – Accra road this morning, April 1, 2015, as result of an accident involving an articulated truck and a black Honda element with the registration number GR – 9329 – 11.

The accident which occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning at the Achimota mile 7 overpass caused no casualty, but created a congested traffic situation for vehicles from Nsawam heading towards Achimota, on the Accra-Kumasi highway.

The cause of the accident is not yet known, but according to an eyewitness, the truck hit the black Honda element from behind.

As at the time of this report, some officers from the Ghana Police Service and the Motor Transport Traffic Department (MTTD) were at the scene to help tow the damaged Honda element and the truck off the road, as well as to ease the traffic congestion that had built up.

This has caused an uncomfortable situation for all busy workers who ply one of the busiest roads in Accra, the Achimota- Accra road.
