Accra, Dec. 16, GNA- Mr. Rowland Kupler, a Circuit Overseer of the Jehovah Witness organisation has advised Christians in arrears of SSNIT loans to be honest to themselves and settle them. He reminded Christians to honour such transactions and called on beneficiaries of the SSNIT Students’ Loan Scheme, who had not paid their loans of their undertaking to pay and make good their promises. “Let your yes be yes, and no be no, and honour your loan obligations,” Mr. Kupler said.
Mr. Kupler gave the advice on Saturday, in a talk titled; “Why the Discipline of Jehovah is Best” on the second of a three-day district convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses, underway at the Jehovah’s Witnesses Assembly Hall, at Batsona, near Accra.
The convention, one of 44 being held at 21 diferrent locations in Ghana between November 2007 and January 2008, focuses on the activities of Jesus Christ as God’s only begotten son, and his role in the fulfilment of God’s promises.
The assembly is offering the Bible as the most practical guide in human life whose application solves problems in all situations. Apart from direct Bible-based talks, the convention is also featuring demonstrations and both sound and full costumed drama to emphasise how the Word of God could exert power to transform lives. Mr. Kupler said as much as higher education was important, divine education was supreme, and it was the knowledge of Jehovah God that brought present happiness and guaranteed eternal life.
In some cases, university education failed to guarantee the attractive jobs and pay packets that were hoped for.
He urged students to be wary of faith damaging theories, sexual immorality, indecent dressing and occultism that were rife in some universities and other tertiary institutions.
The Christian Minister condemned the use of fake results and certificates to gain admission into institutions of higher learning, for which some students had been expelled after they had been unmasked. He admonished Christians not to trade their services to God to acquire worldly wisdom. He encouraged the youth to take up full-time evangelisation work. Mr. Isaac Anum-Ashison and Mr. David Lamptey, both Elders counselled the youth against excessive drinking, but rather increase their knowledge of God to be able to resist the devil’s temptations. A representative of the Jehovah’s Witness branch in Accra, Mr. Stephen Abaye, released a new 192-page publication titled; “Come Be My Follower”
Earlier on Friday, about 5000 delegates at the convention applauded the release of the Ga version of the Jehovah Witness hymnal: “Sing Praises to Jehovah.” Ninety persons were baptised into the faith.
