Donation to Flood Victims from France

Late September 2007, the GHACIFWEMASTER Kwame Sarpong Dumorine suggested to GHACIF executives to re-act to the plight of Ghanaian compatriots in the northern region of Ghana who had been rigged off their homes and belongings by rain floods hitting Africa. This same disaster had taken the lives of 400 Ghanaians. How could GHACIF reject such a “pitiful” request. The response was immediate and this led to an appeal for funds on the Ghacifwebsite.

Very fortunately 2ATP-MR a transport company manned by Professor Osei Kwasi Richard donated 2000 EUROS immediately and the Press company of Mr. J.K. Kyeremeh promised a 500 Euro donation. The St. Michael Real Estate Company donated a KLM plane ticket to Ghana and also travel logistics for the delegation to Tamale and the affected villages to make the donation and also meet and sympathise with the victims.

This made it possible for a delegation to execute the task on the 3/10/2007. The delegation comprised of Nana Yaw Barima ( pictured above left ) a senior journalist at the Ghana Daily Graphic. He is also the GHACIF National Co-ordinator in Ghana, Miss Rose Frimpong GHACIF Co-Ordinating Secretary in Ghana and the GHACIF PRESIDENT Mr. Osei Mensah Michael. Mr. Appiah, Mr. Kwasi Adjei and Mr. Anane all friends of GHACIF accompanied the delegation to the field. The money donation of 23 million cedis was received by the Northern Regional Minister Alhaji Mustapha Ali Idris, during a short but impressive ceremony at Tamale, on behalf of the eight affected districts in the region. Alhaji Idris commended this humanitarian gesture of the Ghanaian France Diaspora.
