Senior citizens urged to adopt healthy life-styles

Ho, July 3, GNA – Mr Kofi Dzamesi, the Volta Regional Minister, has appealed to senior citizens in the country to adopt healthy lifestyles, go for regular medical check up and register with the National Health Insurance Scheme.

He said this is because they still have a lot to offer the country. Mr Dzamesi said this on Sunday at a reception hosted for some senior citizens at the residency to mark the country’s 47th Republic Day. He urged them to offer constructive criticisms, counselling and be voices of moderation and peace in settling differences at both the communities and national levels.

Mr Dzamesi said the government was in firm control of the challenges facing the country and required the support of the citizenry to push through its agenda of national development.

Some of the senior citizens expressed their satisfaction with the government’s approach to the country’s development.

The occasion also saw the re-launch of the Supreme Cannons Band of the 66 Artillery Regiment, which had been in limbo for several decades. The senior citizens were visibly thrilled by the band that took them through memory lane with a medley of highlife music of the yester years. 03 July 07
