Legon Church of Christ organizes symposium for students

Accra, April 08, GNA – Mrs Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Deputy Minister for Manpower, Youth and Employment on Saturday, called on civil society groups to assist Government efforts to promote education especially in the secondary and tertiary levels.

Addressing the opening session of the Eighth Annual symposium for students in Accra, Mrs Osei-Opare said Government’s determination for Ghana to become a middle income earning nation by 2015 required a functional education that would improve the human resource base of the individual, community and nation.

The symposium was organized by the Legon branch of Church of Christ, under the theme “Pressing on Towards Total Fulfilment”. Mrs Osei-Opare, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, said to achieve overall national goal, it was Government’s responsibility to ensure that national targets, including the education sector was achieved.

She was optimistic that the symposium would encourage the students to fulfil their aspirations for the benefit of society. Dr Appiagyei Atuah, a Lecturer of the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana Legon, asked the students to refrain from social vices that would affect them in future. 08 April 07
