Fair wages policy could stem strikes-Dadzie

Takoradi, Jan 3, GNA – Mrs Rebecca Dadzie, the Western Regional Director of Education, on Tuesday expressed optimism that there would be no strike actions in the education sector this year. She said the government’s fair wages policy would address the demand for increase in salaries and better conditions of service, which were the causes for strike actions in the education sector.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Takoradi, Mrs Dadzie said, “The Government’s fair wages policy stated in the 2007 budget is a major vehicle on which quality education delivery can strive”. She said the Untrained Teachers with Diploma Training Programme is another major step in ensuring quality education delivery. Mrs Dadzie said the Capitation Grant and the School Feeding Programme “does not absolve parents from the responsibility of catering for their children.” She said both programmes supplementing the efforts of parents in the upbringing of their children.
