Police arrest JSS pupil after release from prison.

Tepa (Ash), Dec. 10, GNA- An 18 year old Junior Secondary School (JSS) pupil, was on last Thursday, arrested by the police at Tepa for snatching a handbag containing money and a mobile phone, a week after being released from prison.

According to Police Inspector S.S. Amponsah, on the said day at about 7 p.m., the suspect, Mike Essien, followed a woman who was returning home from the market and snatched her bag. He said the victim raised an alarm, which attracted people in the area and was given a chase.

He was soon cornered and arrested, after which the bag was taken from him and handed over to the police. Essien, was on October 26, 2006, jailed for two years by the Tepa circuit court after failing to pay a fine of nine million cedis for harming and stealing a mobile phone from one Miss Rita Asaka at Tepa Zongo.

He was released on Friday, December 1, 2006, from prison after the parents had gone to pay the fine. According to the police, he may be put before court after investigations. 10 Dec. 06
