Zuarungu (U/E) July 25 GNA – A Ghanaian Human Management Consultant based in the United Kingdom, Mrs Josephine Clayton has called on Parliament to consider enacting a law that would ban the production of akpeteshie in Ghana.
Mrs Clayton made this remark in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Sunday at Zuarungu in the Upper East Region. She lamented that most of the youth, who were the workforce and the engine of growth of the nation, were engaged in drinking akpeteshie which had a high content of alcohol and was addictive.
=93It renders the addicts weak and malnourished and unable to do productive work. If I were a parliamentarian in my constituency I would have banned the sale of akpeteshie in my area”, she said. Mrs Clayton bemoaned the spate of death resulting from alcohol related diseases and emphasized that it was high time Parliament passed laws to ban the production of akpeteshie so as to prevent the majority of the youth from destroying their lives.
She cautioned the youth against harmful drugs saying “you would be buying your own death if you engaged yourselves deeply in the drinking of akpeteshie=94.
