260 boreholes in Atwima-Mponua District

Tanodumase-Ashanti, May 29, GNA – The Government in conjunction with Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and KWF a German firm, are providing six billion cedis for the construction of 260 boreholes to some communities within Atwima-Mponua District.

Some of the beneficiary communities that would pay 2.5 million cedis per borehole as counterpart funding are Tanodumase, Sreso-Timpom, Achiase, Adobewura, Bayerebon number three and five.

Mr Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, Atwima-Mponua District Chief Executive, announced this at the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 242 million-cedi Enviro-Loo eight-seater toilet at Tanodumase at the weekend.

He said provision of good sanitation, potable water and introduction of the Capitation grant bore testimony of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP)vision for development in the rural communities. The DCE pledged the commitment of the NPP government to continue to provide social amenities to improve the living standards of rural dwellers.

Mr Owusu-Ansah appealed to the contractor, GeoGroup Limited to complete the project on schedule and warned that any delay, which could incur extra cost would be borne by the contractor. Nana Agyare Boateng II, Chief of Tanodumase, thanked the government for the provision of the facility and appealed to the assembly to rehabilitate the Tanodumase Junction-Tanodumase road and extension of electricity from Bibiani to the town.
