TESCON calls on NPP executives to interact with students

Kumasi, May 8, GNA – A National Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed to the top hierarchy of the party to interact regularly with student members on the various campuses to ensure their unflinching loyalty to the party.

Mr Richard Edward Kodjo, outgoing President of the College of Technology Education of the University of Education, Winneba (Kumasi Campus) branch of the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) of the NPP, made the appeal at the swearing-in of new executives of the branch in Kumasi at the weekend.

He deplored the seeming apathetic attitude of the party’s top functionaries who always turned down invitations to attend functions on campus, saying that the apparent neglect was gradually eroding the loyalty of some students to the party. Mr Kodjo expressed regret that persistent appeals for financial assistance from the mother party to run the party on campus was also not responded to.

Mr Thomas Ofori Donkor, Atwima-Nwabiagya District Chief Executive, advised the students to rise above partisanship and co-exist peacefully with other students on campus to ensure a peaceful environment conducive to teaching and learning.

Mr Martin Mills Yeboah, the new President, said it was his vision to re-organise their outreach programmes to make it more purposeful and meaningful and embark on massive membership drive. He said since NPP cherished openness, transparency, accountability and democracy, he would also uphold these virtues.
