Accra, March 18, GNA – The Management Committee of the Princess Marie Louise Hospital in Accra on Saturday organized a Children’s Bazaar at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park to raise fund towards the construction of an ultra modern theatre and an emergency ward estimated at 1.5 billion cedis.

The bazaar was in commemoration of the 80th anniversary celebration of the Hospital. Speaking to GNA, the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr (Mrs) Matilda Agyemang said the Princess Marie Louise Children Hospital was established in June 1926 and currently had six medical doctors with fifty-three nurses at post. She added that the Hospital presently had 78 beds and needed to be expanded to occupy more beds. She earnestly appealed to the public and corporate organizations to come to the aid of the Hospital.

Dr Matilda Agyemang intimated that during the 80th Anniversary celebration, a musical concert would be organized at the British Council Hall on April 21 while an Awards Night would take place on May 6, 2006 at the Labadi Beach Hotel. A bust of Princess Marie Louise and Cecil Williams will be unveiled at the Hospital premises, while the entire celebrations would be rounded off with a thanksgiving service at the Christ the King Church on June 25. The Bazaar attracted pupils from many schools in both the public and private sectors in the metropolis. The pupils engaged in dancing, and other forms of local play competitions. Winners were award parcels of confectionery.
