Accra, Feb 21, GNA – Three Ghanaian students have received a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarships to pursue various studies in Germany.
The students are Edward Nketia-Amponsah, who will pursue a doctoral studies programme for development research at the Bonn University while Ms Adelaide Asantewaa Asante, a former student of the KNUST reads a Masters programme in Resource Engineering at the University of Karlsruhe while Kwame Nkrumah Hope pursues a Masters in Science programme in Tropical Forestry and Management at the Technical University of Dresden. Presenting the scholarships to the beneficiaries, Mr Peter Linder, the German Ambassador said it was the outcome of a rigorous selection process for the DAAD programmes for 2006, adding that it was the first batch of 10 for the year.
He said after their courses the three would return to Ghana to make their expertise available to the country.
The DAAD is a major German organization providing cooperation and exchange programmes between Germany and her development partners. More than 100 Ghanaian students have so far benefited from the DAAD scholarships.
Ms Asante on behalf of her colleagues thanked the German government for the scholarships and promised to make their studies useful to the nation on their return. 21 Feb. 06
