Cape Coast (C/R), Jan. 2, GNA – Three births, two males and a female were recorded in the three hospitals in the Cape Coast Municipality on New Year’s Day with the same number on New Year’s Eve. While three males were delivered at the District Hospital and two males and the female at the Regional Hospital on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, there were no births at the Cape Coast University Hospital during period.
Ms. Mercy Gyamera, Midwifery Superintendent at the UCCH told the Mrs Felicia Tinkorangmah, Principal Midwife Superintendent at the District Hospital, told the GNA that one Mrs Aba Kodua, a resident of Cape Coast who delivered a male child at 0333 hours had to be given blood transfusion due to post-birth complication but both the mother and the baby were doing well.
At the Regional Hospital where a boy and a girl were delivered on Sunday, Ms Emelia Ampofo-Yankson, Senior Midwife Superintendent, said Mrs Helena Kobina gave birth to a male through the Caesarean section. Mrs Deborah Opong-Mensah, Senior Staff Nurse Midwife, said, however, that Mrs Kobina and one Ms Cynthia Nkrumah gave birth to a female were both doing well with their babies.
