Military Hospital authorities get green light to cull bats

Accra, Dec 16, GNA – The Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission said on Friday that the authorities of the 37 Military Hospital have been granted permission to cull fruit bats populations within the hospital and the median road.

The culling would take place on December 17-18 between 0600 and 1000 hours daily, according to a statement signed by Mrs Vivian Nuhu, Communications Manager of the Wildlife Division.

Those authorised to do the culling would use shotguns and would be in identifiable uniforms to prevent unscrupulous persons from taking any advantage, it said.

“The police will arrest any persons found shooting outside the prescribed areas and prosecute them as poachers.”

The statement said the main road from Flagstaff House to the 37 Military Hospital would be closed and redirected from the junction from Christ the King School.
