NDC investigates allegations

Accra, Nov 13, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has set up a five-man committee to investigate allegations regarding the conduct of the Northern Regional Delegates Conference held in Tamale recently.

The Committee, chaired by Lt Col E K T Donkor, a Member of the Council of Elders of the Party is charged to look into the events preceding the holding of the conference, how the conference was held and its aftermath and to submit a report to the National Executive Committee.

A statement signed by Mr Bede Ziedeng, Acting General Secretary of the NDC, said the investigations would enable the truth or otherwise of the allegations to be established and eventually lead to the healing of the wounds of the region.

Pending the outcome of the investigations, the Functional Executive Committee of the Party condemned the allegations of the use of violence at the conference and advised all NDC members and supporters to avoid any resort to violence in any of the Party’s conferences whether against other members of the Party or any other group.

The NDC called on all its members and supporters in the Northern Region to give the Committee the necessary co-operation to enable it carry its responsibility.
