Techiman-North MP offers scholarship to 42 needy students

Tuobodom (B/A), Oct. 28, GNA – Mr Alex Kyeremeh, Member of Parliament for Techiman North, has awarded scholarships worth 18 million cedis to 42 brilliant but needy students in basic and tertiary institutions.

Twelve of them are attending Asuogyaman Secondary/Technical School at Aworowa, near Techiman.

Mr Kyeremeh told newsmen that each beneficiary would receive between 300,000 and one million cedis being part of his share of the MPs Common Fund.

He said the support was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to institute human-centred development projects to help raise the standard of education in the area.

Mr Kyeremeh advised the youth to be serious with their books and be disciplined, explaining that the scholarships were to assist in the education of disadvantaged youth and asked parents to provide the needs of their children.

He called on the people, especially supporters of the National Democratic Congress to encourage their children to attend school to enable them to take up leadership positions in future. The MP said 24 million cedis out of his next share of the common fund would be disbursed to 31 needy but brilliant pupils. He said pupils short-listed for the awards were from Tanoboase, Krobo, Tuobodom, Offuman, Asueyi, Mesidan, Akrofrom, Aworowa, Jebiri, Aboabo and Jama.
