Dormaa-Ahenkro (B/A), Sept. 17, GNA – The Dormaa District Assembly (DDA) has from January to August this year, mobilised only 821,458,500.00 cedis as against its revenue target of 1,738,593,771.00 cedis. The figure represents 47 percent of the total revenue estimated for the period. On expenditure, the Assembly spent 762,024,089.00 cedis constituting 45 percent of its target expenditure of 1,688,650,000.00 cedis.
The District Chief Executive (DCE) Squadron Leader Benjamin Anane Asamoah released the figures at the Assembly’s General Meeting to approve the disbursement of its 2005 budgetary supplementary allocation. The DCE tasked the Urban, Town and Area councils and all assembly members as well as permanent and commissioned revenue collectors in the District to fashion out a more pragmatic approach, which would ensure that the revenue net was cast wider to cover all groups and individuals eligible to pay taxes.
Sq/Leader Asamoah reminded the assembly members that the quantum of each assembly’s share of the common fund was partly contingent on how much internally generated revenue it could mobilise and consequently asked them to do more.
On the supplementary budget itself, he said the first quarterly instalment of 1,275,776,420.00 cedis would be spent on on-going projects and to pay for projects, which had been completed and were awaiting payment.
He announced that as soon as the supplementary budget was approved, a team of competent assembly members was constituted to prepare a procurement plan for approval by the general assembly. According to the team’s proposals, procurement of goods would take 404,480,000.00 cedis while the works sector would attract the sum of 4.9 billion cedis. 17 Sept. 05
