Asamankese (E/R), Sept. 6, GNA – The Member of Parliament for West Akyem constituency, Mr James Apietu-Ankrah, has intervened to settle out of court, a case involving an Asamankese Upholster, who faked a juju plot against a former West Akyem District Chief Executive, Mr Umar Amoah, in order to obtain favours from the sitting DCE, Mr Kwabena Sintim-Aboagye.
The accused Alhassan, 52, had been convicted on his own plea by the Asamankese court on August 25. The court was to pronounce sentence when the MP intervened that he had the approval of the complainant, Mr Sintim-Aboagye to withdraw the case for amicable settlement. The Judge, Mr Kofi Akrowiah, however, stated that the accused had already been convicted and that outcome of the settlement would be taken into consideration in deciding the sentence.
He therefore adjourned the case to September 15 after granting Alhassan bail in the sum of 10 million cedis with one surety with an order that he should be reporting to the Asamankese police daily until the case was disposed off.
