Two people jailed 30 months for stealing

Sekondi, Sept. 5, GNA – A Sekondi Magistrate Court on Monday sentenced two people on their own plea to 30 months imprisonment for stealing heavy duty lorry tyres valued at 10 million cedis.

They are Isaac Farbeng, 23 and Abdulai Alhassan, 30 both drivers’ mates who worked with Professional Company Limited (PCL) based at Sekondi. Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Andam Okyere told the court that the complainant Mr. Robert Ahin, a transport owner sacked the accused persons for stealing on August 3 this year.

He said on the night of August 13, the accused persons sneaked into the premises of the Public Works Department (PWD) at Sekondi where vehicles belonging to the Company were parked and stole two heavy duty lorry tyres valued at 10 million cedis and removed 20 pieces of wheel nuts valued at 300,000 cedis.

The prosecution said the matter was reported to the police and during investigations the police retrieved the lorry tyres and they were charged with the offence.
