12 company Directors to be arrested

Dzodze, Aug 25, GNA – A district court at Dzodze in the Volta Region on Tuesday issued bench warrants for the arrest of directors of 12 companies operating at Aflao and Denu for failing to appear before it to answer charges of defaulting in paying workers’ monthly social security deductions.

The Social Security and National Insurance (SSNIT) took the directors to court for failing to pay workers’ contributions to the fund.

The directors include Kodjo Yakanu of Setuchi Ventures, Gabriel Mensah of Midodzi Enterprises, Joseph Nyavi of Spotship Company, Peter Atisu of Adu Max Enterprises and Felicia Dzramado of Felicit Enterprises, all Freight Forwarders.

The others are Eric Ahorloo of Lineric Enterprises, Leonard Geraldo of Gamesoo Company, Albert Avinu of Madafi Enterprises, Jacob Agbemehe of Care-Two Shipping Agency, Sampson Quarshie of Nupald Association all Freight Forwarders.

The rest are Modestus Kudadze of Modestus International School and Yao Nudanu of Ecole Privee Liacque Zo-Da.

Seating continues on September 20, this year.

The court, presided over by Mr. Justice Nelson Agbevor, deferred sentence on Desire Abotsi, the Director of Freight Land Limited, after he pleaded guilty.

He has been ordered to make good the entire debt by September 20 or he would be sentenced.

The court also ordered Ademu Ahiable, Director of Ademu Enterprise, to pay by September 1 an amount of six million cedis being part of the social security deductions his firm owe the Trust as at June this year June. The court threatened to go firm on him if he failed to meet the deadline.

Mr Adumako Mensah, the SSNIT Prosecutor, told the court that the accused persons, between 2000 and 2005, made deductions but failed to pay them to SSNIT. 25 Aug 05
