Driver takes to heels after knocking down woman

Nkoranza (B/A) Aug. 21 GNA – A hit-and-run driver who knocked down a 47-year-old woman and farmer from Bonsu near Nkoranza with his urvan bus at Bonsu on Wednesday is declared wanted by the police. Madam Agartha Serwaa popularly called Akosua Mpeduoro, the victim now on admission at the saint Theresa’s Catholic hospital at Nkoranza was knocked down by the bus with registration number GR892 P while returning from her farm on that fateful day.

The Nkoranza police have since impounded the vehicle, while the driver is being searched for.

Mr. Patrick Gyasi, an eyewitness told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at the hospital bed of the victim that, Madam Serwaa had almost reached Bonsu town from the farm when the driver knocked her down with his vehicle.

According to Mr. Gyasi, the driver was travelling from Techiman towards Nkoranza but refused to stop when the incident occurred. He said just after the incident an on-coming Tico taxicab appeared at the scene and the driver hurriedly picked her in his car and sped on to the hospital.

Mr. Gyasi said even though the driver was heading towards Techiman from Nkoranza, he reversed to save the life of the victim and praised him for his kindness. Meanwhile, at the time of filing the story the victim was responding to treatment.
