Ex-convict committed to stand trial at a superior court

Mamponteng (Ash), Aug. 20, GNA – A 25-year-old bicycle repairer who was incarcerated three years ago for sodomy, was on Friday committed to stand trial at a circuit court by the Mamponteng magistrate court for indecently assaulting a 10-year-old boy of the Greater Love Preparatory School at Atimatim near Kumasi.

Atta Kwadwo pleaded guilty to the offence and was remanded in prison custody for re-appear on August 24. Police Chief Inspector George Emmanuel Mensah told the court that the boy was on his way to visit a friend at Atimatim last Sunday and on reaching the spot where Atta repairs his bicycles, the accused asked him to come for some gifts.

He said immediately the boy got to the accused, he forcibly dragged him to an uncompleted building where he wanted to sodomise him. Chief Inspector Mensah said when the boy refused and wanted to raise the alarm Atta pulled him down, covered his mouth and hurriedly brought his male organ between the complainant’s thighs and discharged. He said the accused ran away after the act but was arrested the following day at his hideout.
