Man shoots grandfather, taking him for a deer

Twifo-Praso (C/R), Aug 12, GNA – John Baffoe, a 30-year-old farmer who allegedly mistook his grandfather for a deer and shot him dead was on Wednesday remanded when he appeared before a magistrate’s court at Twifo-Praso on a provisional charge of murder. Baffoe’s plea was not taken and he would be re-arraigned on September 2

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector George Okine, told the court presided over by Mr Joseph Blay that the incident happened at about 1700 hrs last Sunday when Baffoe went to the forest to inspect traps he had set.

In the process, Baffoe allegedly spotted a deer and shot at it but when he went to where the deer had fallen, he found his 75-year-old grandfather, Opanyin Kobina Ackon, in a pool of blood and made a report to the police. 12 Aug 05
