Herdsman fined two million cedis for unlawful entry

Ejisu (Ash), Aug. 7, GNA – A 26-year-old herdsman has been fined two million cedis by the District Magistrate’s court at Ejisu for unlawful entry, causing damage and escaping arrest.

Ali Abdul Rahim, a resident of Ampabame, who pleaded guilty, will in default serve two years imprisonment.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector S.S. Kudolo told the court presided over by Mr Justice Adutwum Mmorosa that on July 31 this year, Mr Atta Kofi, the complainant, went to town to buy drugs and on his return suspected the presence of somebody in his room.

He said on entering his room, he surprisingly saw Rahim hiding at the corner of the room and when questioned about his presence, he failed to answer.

The prosecutor said the accused then picked a stone and threw it at one of the doors damaging it after which he took to his heels. Inspector Kudolo said the complainant then made a report to the police and the accused was arrested on August 2.

While at the police station, he broke the handcuffs and escaped but was quickly re-arrested, the prosecutor said.
