Ghanafest 2005 ? Ottawa, Canada

The Ghanaian Association Of Ottawa (GAO), on behalf of the Ghanaian Community in the National Capital region and surrounding areas invites you to its Annual Summer festival / Family picnic on Saturday, July 23rd.

This year, over 600 participants are expected to storm the Nation?s Capital to take part in this popular summer festival.

Also, this event will allow us to indulge in our own rich tradition and culture and also to openly showcase them to the wider Canadian society. It will further allow us to collectively remind our young ones of our roots and values.

Ottawa Ghanaians are expected to defend their championship in a soccer tournament against their Ghanaian counterparts from Montreal. As a side attraction, Ghanaian Senior Citizens will play a friendly soccer march against the Nigerian Senior Citizens. There will be many other games for the young ones and adults.

His Excellency Mr. Samuel Odoi-Sykes, the Ghana High Commissioner to Canada will attend the Ghanafest as a Special invited guest and will be given the honor of presenting the winning team with a trophy. There will be fireworks as Ghanaians in Ottawa go all out for victory to keep the trophy they won last two years in the Nation?s Capital again.

In addition, there will be art shows and other paintings on display whiles businesses are expected to promote their products on the park.

There will be food and beverages available for sale on the park and also bring along your dancing shoes as DJ Sammy Nyarko will be providing hip life, highlife and other traditional music.
