Anane inspects roads in parts of Volta Region

Pepesu (V/R), July 11, GNA – The government is committed to build a first class road from Tema Motorway through Nkwanta in the Volta Region to the north to form the country’s eastern corridor linking it to its landlocked neighbours.

Dr Richard Anane, the Minister for Road Transport, said this when he inspected work on the 33-kilometer Dzindzinsu/Pepesu portion of the Jasikan/Nkwanta road as part of his inspection of road projects in parts of the Volta Region.

The project costs 4.67 billion cedis made up of a foreign component of 4,153,176.11 dollars and 8,334,199,602.20 cedis. Dr Anane said the government considered good roads as vital to its development agenda of promoting productive activities and improving the living conditions of the people.

Other road projects he inspected included the 22.21- kilometer Kpeve/Golokwati road costing 7.2 billion cedis and 19.1-kilometer Golokwati/Hohoe road costing 19 billion cedis.

Dr Anane also inspected the 50-kilometre Have/Kpandu/Abotoase/Worawora/Dambai road costing of 21 million dollars. Addressing durbars in some town Dr Anane said by constructing the roads the government had fulfilled its social contract with the people and looked forward to they engaging the government positively to embolden it to continue to serve them better. He appealed to chiefs and opinion leaders of towns he visited to encourage their people to register and participate in the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).

The towns included Dodo-Tamale, Vakpo, Worawora, Abutia-Teti, Jasikan, Tongor-Tsanakpe and Dzemeni. 11 July 05
