Chief pledges support for youth to acquire vocational skills

Kwamo, (Ash), July 4, GNA – The newly entsooled chief of the Fowaaso stool lands, has stated that he intends to give priority attention to supporting young boys and girls to acquire vocational and technical training skills in his area of jurisdiction. Nana Gyamfi Amanianpong, the Fowaaso stool lands chief who announced this said to achieve his goal, he intended establishing an educational fund into which he would mobilise resources from citizens at home and abroad.

Nana Amanianpong made the announcement at a ceremony held at Kwamo near Kumasi, on Sunday, to outdoor him following his enstoolment in April this year, and to also introduce him to the stool property and regalia.

The 36-year old chief, a carpenter by profession and known in private life as Mr Osei Amanianpong, succeeded his late uncle who died in 2004.

He said his decision to feature vocational and technical skill training high on his programme stemmed from the realisation that most of the youth lack skills to make them employable, thus contributing to their poor state.

The chief assured the people that he had not ascended the stool to lord it over them but rather to work to bring unity and progress to the area.

He called for genuine unity amongst all residents in the area, devoid of any misunderstanding and disputes to accelerate the pace of development. 4 July 05
