Put money into good use and be transparent – Director

Aduamoa (Ash), June 5, GNA – Mr Kusi Aboraa, Ashanti Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has called on unit committees to put levies they collect from citizens into good use and render transparent accounts to them.

This, he said, would encourage people to continue paying their levies and also participate actively in communal activities. It is also the only way committees and area councils can accelerate the development of their communities, he told the people and chiefs of Aduamoa in the Kwabre district as part of his three-day working visit to the area.

He visited Maase, Edwinase, Mpobi, Ejuratia and Aduman where he interacted with the people on their civic rights and responsibilities. Mr Aboraa was grateful to the Kwabre district assembly for providing 10 million cedis to the NCCE to print the 1992 Constitution to support the district directorate in its civic education programmes. The Director called on the people to take good care of the environment and refrain from practices that degrade the environment. He reminded the people of the need to cater for their children and invest in their education so as to help nurture them into responsible citizens in future.

Mr Emmanuel Anniboye, District Director of NCCE, called on the people to respect and to protect the country’s laws and work hard to support the government to move the nation forward. Mr Anniboye urged them to avail themselves of the 1992 Constitution so that they can at least know of their basic rights and responsibilities and become useful citizens.

Nana Osei Afriyie, Kyidomhene of Aduamoa, called for healthy family ties and spouses to refrain from seeking divorce based on the least provocation from their partners. 05 June 05
