Kuntanase (Ash) April 27, GNA- The Kuntanase Magistrate Court, has sentenced a 26-year old shoemaker, Akwasi Amankwaah, who escaped in police handcuffs whilst being escorted to answer a charge of stealing, to a six-month jail term.

Amankwaah who was arrested for stealing a mobile phone was allowed by a police escort to buy food, when he complained of hunger, but he managed to escape.

Police Chief Inspector Edward Osei told the court, presided over by Mr Adjei Frimpong, that Amankwaah asked a taxi cab driver to take him to Agona in the Afigya-Sekyere District, but the driver who noticed the handcuffs drove the accused to a police barrier and handed him over to the personnel on duty.
