Sekondi, April 12, GNA – George Appiah, a 20-year-old unemployed and Kaku Kwasi Ebra, a 15-year-old student in Cote d’Ivoire, appeared before a Sekondi District Magistrate’s Court on Monday for stealing a VCD deck. Ebra, who is a brother-in-law to Appiah told the court that he stole the deck belonging Kwasi Rasta and that, Appiah was not involved.
The court therefore, discharged Appiah and ordered that Ebra, who was on holidays in Ghana to sign a bond to be of good behaviour for 15 months or in default, serve six months imprisonment in hard labour. Prosecuting, Police Sergeant Andam Okyere told the court that in the afternoon of March 20, this year, Madam Innocent Junior, the wife of Rasta went out without locking the door to their room at Sekondi. He said when she returned some minutes later, she found that the deck was missing.
Sergeant Okyere said the husband was informed and when he returned home from work, he conducted his own investigations.
He said Rasta learnt that Appiah stole the deck and therefore, reported Appiah to the Police, who arrested him.
Sergeant Okyere said Appiah told the Police that the deck was with Ebra and led the Police to Ebra’s father, who gave it to them. He said Ebra was arrested and after further investigations he and Appiah were charged with the offence.
