Meter stealing syndicate invades Koforidua

Koforidua, Feb. 21, GNA – A meter-stealing syndicate has stolen 45 meters and three air valves belonging to Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) in a number of households in Koforidua this year, thus compounding the water crises in the municipality.

Mr Joseph A. Nkrumah, Regional Engineer of the GWCL, who made this known to heads of department in Koforidua, said the thefts were compounding efforts of the company to manage the perennial water problem in the municipality.

Commenting on the water crises, he said the water level in the Densuagya Dam was as low as 1.4 metres, which is below the minimum pumping level.

Mr Nkrumah said new pipelines were being laid at the Akuapem Ridge to replace broken lines.
