Ajumako District makes strides with NHIS

Ajumako (C/R), Jan. 26, GNA – A total of 3,096 people in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District have so far registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) since September last year. Mr Fred Appiah, the district scheme manager, who disclosed this to the GNA on Tuesday, said that of the number, 1,846 are from the informal sector, while 1,121 from the formal sector, with 120 pensioners. He said the district hopes to start the scheme by June this year and appealed to residents in the district to spread payment of premium for the year within six months to enable them acquire identity cards to benefit from the scheme.

Mr Appiah appealed to assembly members to educate more of their members to register with the scheme to enable them get access to quality health care delivery.
