Five people escaped death

Akim Asamama (E/R), Jan. 22, GNA – Five people escaped death at Akim Asamama, near Akim Kwabeng in the Atiwa District on Thursday when a cargo truck on which they were travelling, collided with another vehicle on the Anyinam-Kumasi highway.

The two unknown persons including the driver, who were unconscious from serious injuries, were rushed to the Koforidua Regional Hospital for admission, while three others, who sustained various degrees of injuries, were rushed to the Enyiresi Hospital for treatment. They were identified as George Amponsah, Yaw Gyasi and Tanko.

Mr Gyasi told the Ghana News Agency that the cargo truck, which was from Kwabeng towards Asamama, spotted a saloon car speeding towards it from the opposite direction in an attempt to overtake a vehicle in front of it.

Sensing danger, the truck driver tried to avoid the oncoming vehicle but the two vehicles collided.
