Court issues bench warrant for the arrest of a Director

Tema, Nov. 19, GNA – The Executive Director of Socio Economic Development Centre Limited (SEDC) at site four, who failed to pay to SSNIT, a total of 63.4 million cedis but did not appear before court is to be arrested on bench warrant on the orders of the Tema circuit court “A”.

Dr. Kenneth Afari is charged on two counts of failure to pay to SSNIT, 45,393,799 cedis being social security contributions between August 2002 and August 2004.

He did fail to pay to the fund 18,008,354.22 cedis representing three per cent cumulative penalty imposed for non-payment of social security contributions.

Mr. Sam Owusu-Anim, SSNIT Area prosecutor explained that the establishment is an economic activity engaged in the sale and servicing of computers with 18 registered employees with social security number 204J078

He said periodic inspections conducted on the establishment from August 2002 to August 2004 revealed the arrears of 63,402,153 cedis, which is made up of 43,393,799 cedis as the outstanding contributions and 18,008,354.22 cedis representing accumulative penalty imposed on non-payment of contributions for the period.

After unsuccessful attempts to retrieve the arrears, accused was served with summons to appear before the court to answer the charges.
