FC AshantiGold 04 have ended the appointments of head coach and technical director Abdul Karim Kabutey Zito, assistant coach Ernest Okyere and goalkeeper trainer Robert Dabuo with immediate effect.
The Ghana Premier League club announced the changes on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, after a meeting of its Interim Management Committee the previous day.
Zito’s departure comes only months after he led the Miners back to the Ghana Premier League. He played a key role in securing the club’s promotion to Ghana’s top division.
However, AshantiGold have made an inconsistent start to the 2026/27 season. The newly promoted side have won three and drawn two of their first eight matches.
Although the club have taken points from five of those fixtures, the management has decided to make changes to the technical department as it attempts to strengthen the team’s campaign.
Okyere and Dabuo have also been relieved of their positions, bringing their spells with the club to an end alongside Zito’s.
AshantiGold said a caretaker coach would take charge of the team while the club works to appoint a permanent head coach and technical director.
In its statement, the club thanked the departing members of the technical team for their dedication and contribution, and wished them well in their future endeavours.
Zito’s exit represents a significant change for the Miners, who had placed him in charge of their return to the Ghana Premier League. The club must now find a new technical leadership team to guide them through the remainder of the season and help establish their position in the top flight.
