Wooden bridge is washed away by floodwater

Bao (B/A), Oct 13, GNA – Six farming communities in the Techiman Municipality have appealed to the Municipal Assembly to repair a broken wooden bridge connecting them to the marketing centres. The rest of the communities are, Oseikrom, Kokoroko, Manukrom, Forikrom, Bao and Kusikrom with a total population of over 500.
Nana Forkuo Mensah, Odikro of the area and spokesman for the farmers, made the appeal at Bao on Saturday after leading newsmen to inspect the bridge over Agogotraa River near Faaman. He said the wooden bridge had been washed away by floodwaters cutting the six communities from urban areas for essential items such salt, kerosene, soap and drugs. Nana Mensah cited the plight of a 40-year-old farmer, Madam Anti Akosua, who recently had to be taken to the Techiman Holy Family Hospital by swimmers who carried her on their shoulders across the Agogotraa River. 13 Oct 04
