Newly elected New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman John Boadu has urged members to move beyond the party’s internal elections and unite behind efforts to rebuild the organisation.
Speaking for the newly elected national executives at the NPP’s delegate conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, Mr Boadu said the party’s immediate priority must be strengthening its structures ahead of future electoral contests.
“There must be no winners or losers, only one NPP united around one purpose,” he said.
He said the rebuilding process should start immediately, with renewed attention given to the party’s grassroots and constituency organisations.
“Our preparations begin now. We must rebuild from the grassroots upwards and strengthen our constituency structures,” John Boadu stated.
Mr Boadu said the NPP also needed to improve the way it engaged with both its members and the electorate. He called for wider consultation and more effective organisation as part of the party’s preparations for the future.
“Our task is to rebuild the NPP into one that listens, consults more, organises better and prepares more deliberately for the future,” he added.
The new chairman also warned party members against assuming that electoral success was guaranteed. He said the NPP had to win the confidence of Ghanaians through its service.
“Political victory is never an entitlement; it must be earned through service,” he remarked.
The conference in Kumasi also produced several other national officers for the New Patriotic Party.
Daniel Titus Glover was elected National Organiser, while Mavis Hawa Koomson became the national women’s organiser. Yakubu Abanga was elected national youth organiser.
Justin Kodua Frimpong was reelected as General Secretary of the NPP.
Mr Kodua secured 4486 votes in the closely contested internal election.
The results were announced during the party’s delegate conference on Saturday, October 3, where the new national executives were elected.
