Mavis Hawa Koomson has been elected National Women’s Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the party’s delegate conference in Kumasi.
The election took place on Saturday, October 3, alongside contests for several other senior positions within the party.
Daniel Titus Glover was elected National Organiser, while Justin Kodua Frimpong was reelected as General Secretary.
Mr Kodua won a closely fought internal election with 4486 votes. Former Member of Parliament for Ngleshie Amanfro, Sylvester Tetteh, finished second on 1340 votes.
Eugene Boakye Antwi received 162 votes, while Dr Charles Dwamena polled 126.
Abanga Fuseini Yakubu was elected National Youth Organiser after securing 1550 votes in a contest involving six candidates.
His opponents were Clement Opoku Gyamfi, who received 631 votes; Michael Osei Boateng, with 78; Vera Oye Bram-Larbi, with 44; Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, the then Deputy National Youth Organiser, with 46; and Alfred Kumi Ababio, who polled 25 votes.
