Politicians should be committed to peaceful elections- JAK

Tema, Sept.22, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Wednesday asked politicians to let their words and actions confirm their sincerity and determination to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections.

He said, ” as we embark on the campaigns, let our words and actions confirm that indeed we are all sincere in our determination to carry the democratic process further through free, fair and peaceful elections”. President Kufuor made the call when addressing a grand durbar of the Chiefs and people of Tema.

He said the use of abusive language by politicians would deny the commitment by Ghanaians to ensure free, fair and peaceful elections, ” all political parties and their flag bearers should be firm and sincere to free, fair and peaceful elections”.

Mr S.E. Ashong-Narh, Tema Municipal Chief Executive said the President’s Special Initiatives (PSI’s) and the Government’s commitment to transparency, good governance and free speech were a booster to private initiative and an encouragement to individuals to develop their talents and pursue their legitimate businesses without fear of political interference.
