During proceedings at the Kumasi High Court, Ernestina Fosuh, elder sister of highlife legend Daddy Lumba, made new revelations regarding the long-standing tension between her family and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni.
Ernestina claimed that although her late brother maintained a long relationship with Odo Broni, he never married her, contradicting suggestions that she was his spouse.
According to her testimony, Odo Broni secretly recorded her during their “good days,” back when she affectionately called her “Akumaa.” Ernestina told the court that these recordings were later presented as evidence — something she believes was done with ulterior motives, anticipating a future dispute over Lumba’s estate.
She further stated that Odo Broni was aware that Lumba could pass away at any time due to his health struggles, and therefore kept those recordings to potentially use against the family.
Ernestina also detailed the level of support she provided while her brother was alive. She noted that whenever the couple had issues, she was the one who stepped in to settle disputes. She said she did weekly shopping for her brother until his passing, and also bought items for Odo Broni each time she gave birth.
These revelations form part of the ongoing legal case initiated by Akosua Serwaa Fosu, who is seeking recognition as Daddy Lumba’s lawful wife, exclusive rights to perform widowhood rites, and a court order preventing Odo Broni from presenting herself as the late musician’s spouse.
