Health Scheme in Ahanta West District on course

Agona-Nkwanta (W/R) Sept. 9, GNA- The Ahantaman Mutual Health Insurance Scheme in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region is preparing to meet the deadline for the national launch of the Scheme in the country. Mr Titus Doku, Insurance focal person in the district said all the necessary structures have been put in place in 123 communities with a population of about 92,000 people.

He was briefing the Ghana News Agency at Agona-Nkwanta on Thursday on preparations made to enhance the smooth implementation of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the district.

He said a general assembly, comprising representatives of all the communities would meet next week to discuss and endorse a constitution on the scheme.

He said about 40 premium collectors would be trained and be responsible for listing or registering people in communities.
