MP to secure $500,000 for hot pepper cultivation

Breman Asikuma, Aug 30, GNA- Mr P.C. Appiah- Ofori, the MP for Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa, has said he would secure 500, 000 dollars’ loan from Export Development Fund for the cultivation, processing and exporting of hot pepper in the constituency

The move is to promote mass production of hot pepper and also encourage the youth in the district to go into active farming instead of drifting to towns and cities.

He said this at the NPP delegates’ conference at which he was re-elected as parliamentary candidate to contest the December elections. He polled 55 votes to beat Mr Kwame Ampoful, former Managing Director of Kaneshie Market Company and Mr E.K. Sekyi-Appiah. The two had 38 votes each.

Mr Appiah-Ofori said the land in the district is good for hot pepper cultivation and its export would earn the country foreign exchange. Mr Appiah-Ofori assured the party delegates that he would work harder than before to retain the seat in he December elections.
