Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has revealed that members of the Black Stars Management Committee previously earned $10,000 in winning bonuses, double what the players themselves received.
Speaking at a press briefing ahead of Ghana’s World Cup qualifier against Chad, Adams disclosed that successive administrations had paid management teams hefty bonuses alongside players, a practice he has now ended.
“Black Stars Management Committee members were on $10,000 as a winning bonus, while players were on $5,000,” he said. “The Sports Ministry has decided not to pay winning bonuses to management team members of the national teams.”

Adams explained that his administration has been scrutinising national team budgets, cutting unnecessary items, and ensuring fairness. Under the new structure, Black Stars players will receive a per diem of $150, while technical staff will earn $200.
The move comes as the Black Stars prepare for two crucial World Cup qualifiers away to Chad on September 4 in N’Djamena, before hosting Mali in Accra on September 8.
The Minister has faced public pressure to be transparent about national team spending. President John Mahama earlier this year instructed him to publish budgets for international assignments, a directive Adams has begun to act on.
