The family of late Highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known to many as Daddy Lumba, has announced a series of memorial events to honour his life and legacy following his death on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
In a statement issued by Baba Jamal & Associates on behalf of the Fosu family and signed by Fati Ali Yallah, Esq., the family expressed deep appreciation for the outpouring of love and support received since the news of the music legend’s passing.
“The kindness, prayers, and messages of comfort from friends, fans, and the general public have brought immense consolation to the family during this painful time,” the statement read.
According to the announcement, Daddy Lumba passed away after a brief illness. In his memory, two key public events have been scheduled to allow Ghanaians and admirers to pay their respects.
Beginning Tuesday, July 29, a Book of Condolence will be opened at his private residence located at Kinshasha Crescent, House Number 12 (GA-332-9264), from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.
Additionally, a candlelight vigil is set to take place at Independence Square on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. The vigil, to be held under the auspices of the Creative Arts Agency, will serve as a national gathering to celebrate the profound influence Daddy Lumba had on Ghanaian music and culture.
The family has called for continued privacy as they navigate this period of mourning, while encouraging the public to join in remembering a man whose music became the soundtrack of generations.
Further details regarding funeral arrangements will be shared in due course, the statement added.
As tributes continue to pour in from across the country and beyond, these memorial events promise to bring together fans, industry colleagues, and loved ones in a collective celebration of a life that transformed Highlife music forever.
