The Minority in Ghana’s Parliament has called on the Health Minister to urgently appear before the House and address concerns over a resurgence of COVID-19 cases at the University of Ghana.
Raising alarm on the floor of Parliament, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh expressed fears that the escalating situation could spread panic across the country if not addressed transparently.
“We don’t want to relive the turmoil the country endured during the peak of the pandemic,” Annoh-Dompreh said. “The Health Minister must provide clear, factual updates to prevent fear and uncertainty from spiralling further.”
Nurudeen Muhammed Mumuni, MP for Nalerigu/Gambaga, echoed these sentiments, urging immediate action. “It is a very important issue that we need to get the Health Minister to respond to and update the country as to whether COVID-19 is back or not,” he said.
The Minority is pressing for transparency on the situation, emphasizing that timely intervention and accurate information are essential to containing the outbreak and calming public concerns.
