Ejura (Ash), Aug 15, GNA – Mathew Coresar, a 25-year-old porter at Ejura was last Friday, remanded in police custody by the Mampong Circuit Court for defiling a three-year-old girl.
The Court presided over by Mrs Ampem Darko did not take the plea of Coresar, who would re-appear before the Nsuta Circuit Court on August 17.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Emmanuel Arzah, Mampong Divisional Crime Officer, told the Court that at about 9.30 pm on July 28, this year, the accused went to drink ‘pito’ at the victim’s grandmother’s bar.
He said after drinking, the accused held the hand of the little girl and started playing with her. ASP Arzah said Coresar in the process took the victim behind the bar.
However, the woman realising the disappearance of her granddaughter started looking for her and with the assistance of other women went behind the bar and saw the victim on the laps of the accused. The Prosecutor said the grandmother and the women realised that Coresar had inserted his penis into the vagina of the three-year-old girl and raised the alarm leading to the arrest of the accused. He said the girl was sent to the Ejura Government Hospital for medical attention.
