Gomoa Panfokrom (C/R), Aug. 11, GNA- The Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) the Women Training Institute at Panfokrom in the Central Region on Tuesday appealed to the administrator of the GETFUND to ensure that the institute benefited from the fund.
The PTA chairman, Mr. Dominic Wilson who made the appeal said the Institute being the first Women’s Institute in the country established in 1965 by the Department of Community Development under the Ministry of Local government and Rural Development is presently facing a number of problems.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), in an interview, Mr Wilson mentioned some of the problems as insufficient classrooms, inadequate dormitories and staff bungalows and lack of transport.
The institute is “now seriously congested in the classrooms and dormitories. A four-classroom and dormitories block each started over six years ago to help ease the situation has been at standstill”, he said.
The PTA chairman said the Institute currently had a total enrolment of 210 students and that the school could no more admit qualified students.
