Kuntanase (Ash), Aug 1, GNA- The Kuntanase Magistrate’s court last Thursday remanded a 25-year-old driver in police custody for burning his mother’s clothes and other personal belongings on the advice of a pastor. Yaw Frimpong pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on August 5.
Police Chief Inspector Edward Osei told the court that Frimpong lived with his mother, Madam Amma Birago, 52, who had been bed-ridden for the past four years at Abramkese-Swedru near Kuntanase. He said on July 27, this year, about 0800 hours, Frimpong told his mother that his pastor had asked him to treat her kindly and give her good food.
Chief Inspector Osei said a few minutes after giving her mother food, the accused collected all the old clothes, shoes, bags and other items and on the orders of Pastor Kofi Yeboah of the Blood of Jesus Church, burnt the items and assaulted the old woman she asked him why he burnt her belongings. He said his uncle, Maxwell Fofie who witnessed what went on reported Frimpong’s conduct to the Kuntanase police and the accused was arrested.
