Clergy urged to think of congregations’ welfare

Winneba (C/R), July 27, GNA – An elder of the Church of Pentecost, at Winneba, Mrs Elizabeth Adu-Mensah, on Monday called on the clergy to adopt innovative means of improving the living standards of their congregations, instead of being preoccupied only with their spiritual needs.

She said the churches could give financial assistance to needy members to start income generating activities.

Mrs Elizabeth Adu-Mensah was addressing Women’s group of the Pentecost Church on the “Importance of a Good Christian Leader.” She said Christian leaders should help in the development of education, virtue and encourage people to be creative and business conscious.

Mrs Adu-Mensah said one of the pivotal role of a Christian leader was to abide by the gospel he or she preaches. The Christian community, she said must teach the youth to become God-fearing and live by the teachings of the Bible.
